When someone owes you money under a judgment, a check or a promissory note, you can open an enforcement file and act to collect it: attachments, restrictions on the debtor, and further motions as needed.

When should you contact a lawyer?

  • You hold a judgment that hasn't been paid.
  • A check you received has bounced.
  • The debtor doesn't respond and avoids paying.
  • An existing file isn't moving, and you want to consider further steps.
